Proving his versatility as an actor, Ryan Reynolds is one heck of a character. From being a part of the movies such as "Blade: Trinity" (2005), "Just Friends" (2005), "X-men: Origins" (2009) "The Proposal" (2009) and a lot more, his new project is becoming the 'ring-wearing intergalactic superhero' known as Hal Jordan or the Green Lantern.


Scheduled to hit the big screens on June 2011, DC Comic fans has another movie to anticipate about.

No official trailer has come yet for this movie so don't believe the tags you see in YouTube or those kinds of streaming sites! They're prolly the old movie which came out on 2009 which was unfortunately not such a hit, but because Reynolds is the new official actor to play this role, let's just see if he can live up to the 1941 character and see how it hits the movie charts!

Kick Ass!

KickAss: Not your ordinary Superhero.

When I first saw the trailer of this movie, I thought it was another of those lame and comical superhero-wanna-be movies like Superhero (with a character basing himself from a Dragonfly)... But this attitude of mine which disregards movies I don’t think i'd like, but when I end up watching them would prove me wrong to the point I didn’t expect I would even write a movie review about it!

Yes, KickAss was that worth it.

I’m a bit frenetic at myself right now for having to doubt this movie at first. But I would never really know how good it was until I watched it. I just kept on hearing good comments about it so I finally got myself one of those pirated copies one (‘coz like I said, I didn’t really think it was good so I didn’t wanna pay for it in the cinema). But just after 10 minutes of watching it, I paused for a moment and got myself munchies because I know I was going to sit on the movie ‘til the end of it.

KickAss is a movie based on a comic book of the same title. I haven’t heard of it going mainstream (and I don’t think many has) but given now that it has become a major motion film, the story of Dave Lizewski (played by Aaron Johnson), the unnoticeable high school comic book fanatic/ nobody who gets mugged every week by the same punks who are lamer than his set of friends and wonders how come of all the many people who likes superhero stories never really want to be ONE. As Dave’s friend Marty (Clark Duke) answers, that’s because they either “psychotic or they’d just get their ass kicked”. And true enough during that normal day diner conversation of theirs, the only superheroes who can be are the ones who has super muscles or someone like Bruce Wayne (Batman) who has that lot of money to fund the superhero stuff he has.

But despite that, Dave purchases a green wetsuit over the internet and becomes a superhero he dreams of… well, sort of.

As KickAss walks the street and obviously gets odd stares from the people, one good ass kicking moment caught on video made him the instant hero. His agonizing beating made him known all over the news ‘til such time he becomes the new face in your local comic books. But since KickAss/ Dave doesn’t possess any amazing super human abilities (well except for being invisible to girls)— and not even a set of basic defense skills—gets him into trouble he only imagined in the comic books stories.

The movie isn’t that all funny nor full of action scenes that will keep you at the edge of your seat. It’s just a movie with the right element of plot, characters, and a good set of optimism and naivety that made the geek in the mask worth watching.

Together with Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) and Hit Girl (Chloe Moretz), the story was even more heart breaking that the moments KickAss got mistaken as a gay by the girl he has a major crush on (and not to mention his body being covered in metal after getting heavily beat up). It was Big Daddy and Hit Girl's story that added more touch and color to the movie and showed that normal people can be superheroes— and I mean literally, with the whole mask and all— and beat the crap out of the bad guys just by having the right set of training, sucking up the responsibility, and having a "slightly elevated capacity to take a kicking", will make one fit enough to wear a costume and rock it!

Sweet little Mindy is the 11-year old Vigilante "Hit Girl" by night.

KickAss is your ordinary yet not ordinary superhero movie (confusing right?) but he rocks it and you’ll get what I’m saying when you watch it. Recommended enough to watch during those slow and hot summer afternoons with a bag of junk foods, a cool drink and a combat knife.. just to keep you safe.:D

Oh and did I mention Aaron Johnson is such a cutie?!

It seems like the nightmare isn't over... Let's start of the upcoming movies with Freddy Kruger who is back and ready to kill you in your dreams in 2010's Nightmare on Elmstreet version showing this April 30.

This May 14th, Russell Crowe is the new hero of the peasant people. He is the famous archer with a deeper storyline. He is Robin Hood.




Before there was the "When all else fails, we don't" elite group, The A-Team went into battle saying "There is no Plan B". The 1983 action-adventure TV series composing the 4 famous ex-US Army Special Forces are now in the big screen this June 11!

Based on the young adult book series written by Kathryn Lasky and Kathryn Huang Knight, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga hoole is coming to tell the tale on September 24.

Although i'm not a big fan of this last movie, it's for the kids and we never know if it might be as cute as Happy Feet... or then again, meh.

The Losers are not so Losers after all with their award winning cast. Starring big names such as Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoe Saldana, Chris Evans and Columbus Short, this Action-Adventure movie is set to be out by April 23.




Fall in love.* Get married. Have a baby. *Not necessarily in that order. The Back-Up Plan is Jennifer Lopez's upcoming romantic comedy also showing this 23rd.





To top the summer movie line-up, here's the movie everyone isn't suppose to miss: Iron Man is back in action with War Machine in Marvel's second sequel of one of their biggest characters showing this April 30!

Hot, new, spanking movies!!

...And I really meant them HOT NEW SPAKIN' movies! I saw these trailers while watching Alice in Wonderland (i heart Hatter) and I just had to share it with you!;D

Prince of Persia game fans gets excited as the movie version finally debuts on the big screen. Watch the trailer of P.O.P: The Sands of Time here. I'm not really convinced Jake Gyllenhaal can pull this off as Prince Dastan but i'll give him the benefit of the doubt, we never know, he could be as versatile as "Brokeback Mountain" to "The Day after Tomorrow" right?O_o"

Will Smith's son get surprisingly big since his last movie in 2006's The Pursue of Happyness. Now Jaden [Smith] gets fit and learns some ass-kicking movies as he becomes Jackie Chan's apprentice in their movie The Karate Kid showing this July 11!



Another interesting movie coming up is The Sorcerer's Apprentice starring Nicholas Cage (and his apprentice I'm not familiar with. >_<"). I don't know why Cage's movies lately turn up to be either a fantasy or animated but he's working it and i'm likin' it!:D Showing this July 16.

And speaking of animation, How To Train Your Dragon seems to be an anticipated 3D movie for those IMAX cinema as Dreamworks brings Cressida Crowell's 2003 children's novel to life.



But wait, there's more!! This just in, (*updated March 11th), Twilight fans gets a stir as Eclipse, the third saga to the vampire novel by Stephenie Meyer (as if you didn't know that) is finally out! Here's a peek at that hopefully motivating movie ('coz honestly the 3rd book was a bore for me).

Movie match up 2!

Now that Vday is closer than ever, widen your variety for movie choices in these upcoming flicks that'll either make or break your day (so choose what wisely.=p)

Love Happens stars Aaron Eckhart, a widow who became a best-selling self-help guru but meets Jennifer Aniston and realizes he himself has not yet confronted his own issues. I got to watch this already and it's a movie with a light story which I personally don't recommend worthwhile watching at the Cinema.




Dear John is a story about John (Channing Tatum), a young soldier on leave and Savannah (Amanda Seyfried), an idealistic college student who falls in love during spring break. As John returns to the field, the couple stays in touch by sending each other love letters in hopes to keep each other no matter how far they are apart. What seems to me like 'A Very Long Engagement' slash 'The Notebook', it's unsurprisingly because this movie was based on best-selling author Nicholas Spark's three-part book.




Meryl Streep, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin collaborate in a romcom about a divorced couple who hooks up again making their life, their children, and their current relationships hilariously complex in It's Complicated.




If you're up to a less mushy movie but find a way to be clingy (*ugh*), you might want this Horror/ Thriller about a social worker named Emily Jenkins (played by Renee Zellweger) who fights to save a girl from her abusive parents, only to discover that the situation is more dangerous than she ever expected. Case 39 is currently showing in movie houses.




One for the kids, this movie is an adaptation of Maurice Sendak's classic children's story where Max, a disobedient little boy imagines and adventure to Where the Wild Things Are.




And coming to theaters this Feb. 17th, The Lovely Bones centers on a young girl who has been murdered and watches over her family - and her killer - from heaven. She must weigh her desire for vengeance against her desire for her family to heal. This drama/ fantasy genre movie is a must-see list for me. :)

Movie match-up

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and if you have someone special to spend it with, you've probably thought of a plan to make that day a bit different than usual But for those who are without a part, just because you're single doesn't mean you can't enjoy the day too! A good movie will always make your day and you never know, someone might notice and just pair with you... ^_~

And so what could even make it more obvious than Valentine's Day, a movie starring some big stars completing ten pairs! If you're going to watch this one, I suggest you book your tickets way ahead as this seems to be the movie of THE day. Showing this Feb. 12 in all Cinemas.




If you're hanging out with friends or a group that day, probably the good upcoming movies you'd enjoy and laugh about are Youth in Revolt starring Michael Cera (x2) and Tim Allen in Crazy on the Outside.





But if you're gonna be with your family, the Tooth Fairy starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will be fun for the kids as much as Book of Eli with Denzel Washington will be for the adults.

And for the real reason for celebrating valentines, it's family that brings you to Extraordinary Measures in this heartbreaking Box Office Movie starring Brendan Fraser.

Yule Movies Part II

There are just a lot of movies that still needs to be featured, I guess I'm not through!

The rumor I've picked up on my 2009 Movie preview post has come true! A darker, more sophisticated version of the greatest detective ever known (or written, for that matter), Sherlock Holmes is set to come out in the big screens this Jan. 8, 2010 with big stars shuck as Robert Downey Jr. (Holmes), Jude Law (as the trusted number two, Dr. Watson), Rachel McAdams and Mark Strong.

I'm just hoping the movie will show more of Holme's intellectual prowess rather than an action sequence which ironically seems to have dominated the trailer. (And weird enough I haven't pictured Downey as Holmes).

My favorite martial arts comedian Jackie Chan is back as The Spy Next Door in this movie somewhat similar to 'The Pacifier' (Vin Diesel), with less muscle but more of the a**-kicking moves.

Next up, love stories doesn't just come in February. Love Happens is about a widower whose book about coping with loss turns him into a best-selling self-help guru. On a business trip to Seattle, he falls for a woman who attends one of his seminars, only to learn that he hasn't yet truly confronted his wife's passing. Starring Aaron Eckhart and Jennifer Aniston, the movie is bound to show on January 27.

(How I'm hoping this isn't as corny as Aniston's previuos movie the Management. Ugh. Total disaster. ~_~")

And for the love of Eywa, if you haven't watched James Cameron's Avatar yet, YOU ARE MISSING IT OUT MY FRIEND! I highly recommend i, best in 3D with a bag of munchies and a strong bladder ('coz you really won't get up from your seat just so you won't miss anything!) ;)

Yule movies is coming to town!

It's a month full of celebrations to be happy about it and that means food, vacation and holidays! But aside from that, a new year is just around the corner and lot of good movies are in store for all movie-lovers! Check out these trailers I've been able to take a peak at and can't wait to see!


Get your dose of action in the re-make of the 1981 fantasy adventure film based on the myth of Perseus that is making old and new fans anticipate Clash of the Titans showing this March 26, 2010.

Some might think this is a spoof, others, another taint at the vampire image we used to know. Well Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant is indeed different as it shows its distinctive characteristic on a vampire that is based on author Darren Shan's "Vampire Blood Trilogy", a 12-book saga for young adults.

It has long been showed in the US but due to the MMF's, The Vampire's Assistant is late and will be showing in cinemas on Jan. 27, 2010.

Find the fun in an epidemic of the undead as Zombieland gives you the hunter, the hunted and the scared showing this Jan 8.

Why do I find their poster seemingly similar to Left 4 Dead [1] game characters? (Even genre here though).




Based on the book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game by Michael Lewis, the movie adaptation features the extraordinary true story of the American football player Michael Oher (played by Quinton Aaron), who plays for the Baltimore Ravens of the NFL. The movie also stars a blonde Sandra Bullock playing Oher's adopted mother.

Also showing on Jan. 27 (I actually got to watch this movie already and it is truly a touching and recommended movie to watch).

"After God loses faith in humanity, the archangel Michael (Paul Bettany) is the only one standing between mankind and the apocalypse. This time using angels as the act of Biblical judgment, God's wrath descends on Earth to exterminate the world's population. In a desperate, last-chance gambit, Michael leads a group of strangers to a small New Mexico diner to protect a young waitress who may be pregnant with Christ in His second coming."

Hold on to your prayer books, Legion is another movie to watch out for in Jan. 27! (Advisory: Movie is rated as "Matured"). Also starring, Tyrese Gibson, Dennis Quaid, Lucas Black (II), Kate Walsh and Kevin Durand.

And to end this long feature of great movies to watch out for, here's Walt Disney's latest production The Princess and the Frog, the timeless story of well, the Princess and the Frog (and you'd be so lame if you didn't know about that).

But needless to say, despite it being the famous fairy tale by the Grimm Brothers, we're still expecting this movie to come up with it's own twist and bring out the child in everyone of us... at least for those who are up to watching this kind of animated movies (although i don't have any idea when this is going to be shown though).

Rain is your Ninja Assassin

From being a Korean pop star to endorser to now the first English Korean movie lead actor, Rain stars in an amazing action-packed, blood and killing driven movie--- Ninja Assassin.

It is a tale of a skilled assassin who was trained by a mythical secret society called Ozuno Clan who are being hired by powerful men to be the modern assassins in the shadows of the night. But the moment his fellow ninja clan kills Raizo's friend (and somewhat love interest), Raizo bids his time until the day he can take the entire Ozunu Clan down.

It might be your ordinary revenge and action type movie. But honestly despite the shallow over-rated plot, that comment is clouded by the fast-paced, heart-stopping martial arts--- or whatever it is that Ninja does for their fighting method (and that includes his favorite weapon, Kratos of God of Wars very own Blades of Chaos! LOL). It's a movie entirely to entertain you and enjoy the favored concept of ninja ways... from their training to the weapons and the bad-ass shurikens, this movie is not for the weak gut and hearted.

The only negative thing I noticed is that there were a lot of absolutely obvious cut-scenes to reduce the thought of the gore that might happen next-- such as blood spilling, head cutting, more blood spilling---you get the gist. I guess it'll be available only to the Director's cut release sometime next year.

So for those who hasn't watched it yet (or is not aware of it yet), I recommend a night of ramen and Ninja Assassin to complete your thirst for some awesomeness. (Although I still wonder why they chose Rain to star in this though--- gotta love the abs! ;D)

TWILIGHT Saga fans are probably trying to fit themselves in all cinemas showing the hit book's second series 'New Moon' screening out today. Although I may not be a part of those poeple rushing and screaming "Edwaaaardddd <3!!!">

Coming in first is a movie that would seem to catch another wave of fan-sequel-attention a a novel-based story is set to hit the screens in 2010. Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief is about the chronicles and adventures of twelve-year-old Percy Jackson, who discovers he is a demigod, the son of a mortal woman and the Greek god Poseidon. Percy and his friends go on a quest to prevent an apocalyptic war between the Greek gods Zeus, Poseidon and Hades. The story contains a multitude of encounters with characters from Greek mythology still alive in modern times.

This fantasy novel is rated as a young-adult fiction 9th on New York Time's Best Seller list for children's books last Aug 2007. Playing Percy Jackson is Logan Lerman, a promising young actor who would either be the next Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) or Rob Pattionson (Edward from Twilight). He already has a few movies in his CV including casting in two upcoming movies this September such as "My One and Only" (starring Renee Zellwegger and Kevin Bacon) and "Gamer" (Gerard Butler).



I wouldn't wonder if Lerman stars getting fan girls from this trailer alone, he looks so cute! Lmao~XD


Next up by Wild Hogs duo John Travolta and director Walt Becker as they work together again to bring another comedy movie by Disney called "Old Dads".



Including some of the big names in comedy: Robin Williams, Seth Green and Justin Long, let's hope this movie does become a good comedy and not just some Daddy Day Camp-like movie.

The whole gaming field has reached a new level. In Gamer, it somehow captures the sense of the 2008 movie Death Race (starring Jason Statham) where players control other humans in actual combat! See the [shocking] possibilities this September!




And lastly, the role of a Vampire-ish/Demon-like highschool cheerleader that feeds on teenage boys has befallen Megan Fox in the thriller Jennifer's Body set to be released on September 18. Not her usual cup of tea and it looks kinda corny but since it's Fox, no matter how lame it may look, why do I have a feeling boys would surely still buy it? (not to mention she makes evil dark and sexy).

Twilight Saga update: 073009

With the next installation of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Saga hitting the big screen this November, New Moon rises new issues as well!

Twilight's evil vampire 'Victoria' will next be seen in the third sequel of the Best selling novel Twilight but not with previous actress Rachelle Lefevre. Summit Entertainment drops the bomb and reveals Lefevre will be replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard (Lady in the Water/ Kate Connor (Terminator: Salvation)/ Gwen Stacy of Spider Man: 3) instead! It must have been a real gut to the stomach for sweet-goddess like Rache, but I agree with Summit-- Bryce would look better as Victoria, not to mention her looks alone kill!:E

As a fan girl of the story, I'm really excited to see the movie!XD Hear other fan girls wail as well in this sneak peak of New Moon trailer showed at Comic Con 2009!



So far that scene was how I imagine the novel (although that was a very unlady-like run from Bella Swan actress Kristen Stewart >.> and i don't even remember Edward having to remove his clothes off and show that 6-pack abs *KIYAAAA!!!* =)) ) but as I was saying, I hope the movie gets better this time around!

Starring Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, and Marion Cotillard, Public Enemies is an incredible and true story of legendary Depression-era bank robber John Dillinger (Depp), the charismatic bank robber whose lightning raids made him the number one target of FBI.




My Sister's Keeper is a 2009 drama film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Jodi Picoult starring Cameron Diaz, Abigail Breslin, Sofia Vassilieva, and Alec Baldwin. The story revolves on Anna Fitzgerald (Abigail Breslin) was brought into the world to be a genetic match for her older sister, Kate (Sofia Vassilieva), who suffers from acute promyelocytic leukemia. Anna knows if she donates a kidney, she will be unable to live the life she wants; she will no longer be able to take part in extracurricular activities such as cheerleading or soccer. When Kate turns 15, she goes into renal failure. Knowing that she will have to donate one of her kidneys to her sister, Anna sues her parents for medical emancipation and the rights to her own body.




Based on the classic 1970's horror film, "It's Alive" is about a baby born to a human couple turns out to be a mutant monster with an appetite to kill when scared.




Next Attraction:

A bit similar to the movie Hitch with it's own hint of story and twist, this is The Ugly Truth.




The Grudge sequel continues with it's third horror movie in its Hollywood installemnt.

A next from our favorite 3D movie creator Pixar comes UP, a comedy adventure about 78-year-old balloon salesman Carl Fredricksen, who finally fulfills his lifelong dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America but soon discovers he hasa stow away on his trip: an overly optimistic 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell.

If you loved the humor from the 2006 movie Borat, then Sacha Baron Cohen's back in a new movie called Brüno coming out this August 26... because Borat was so 2006 ago.
