Bark for the Environment: A Walk your dog event

Still in celebration and awareness of Earth Hour 2010, man's bestfriend can now also participate in activities being created specifically in "Bark for the Environment". Join hundreds or probably thousands of dog lovers and their pets as they race for the prize or the mere fun of of it. Event details are as follows:


What: Bark for the Environment: A 1.5k/3k walk-your-dog event
(for the benefit of Animal Welfare Coalition)
When: April 25, 2010 (Sunday), 5am
Where: Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center, Q.C.
How much: P100/ dog participant

What you should know before the event:

Dog Walk Rules:

1) All dog sizes and breeds are qualified to walk, as long as the dog and owner are healthy and fit to walk through the course.
2) Dogs must be current on all shots and rabies vaccination. Vaccination record will be checked upon registration.
3) Dogs must wear ID tags at all times.
4) Dogs under six months of age, highly infested with ticks/fleas, in heat, and are uncontrollably aggressive will NOT be allowed to participate in the walk.
5) Dogs must be leashed (5ft. max length). Retractable leashes are not allowed.
6) Pet owners must clean up after their dogs. Bring poop pickers.7) A participant can have no more than two dogs under his control. Children must be 13 years old or older to walk with a dog without adult supervision.
8) Pet owners are allowed to bring their own water bowl.
9) Smoking in the race are is highly discouraged.


How to Join:

1) A registration fee of P100 per dog participant will be collected. This is inclusive of the park entrance fee, bib number, dog bandana, sponsor's freebies and donation to the Animal Welfare Coalition (AWC). Payment must be accompany the registration form.
2) On-site registration starts at 5am at the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center.
3) Participants are encouraged to write their commitment to the environment on their respective race bibs. They may also log in or sign up at the Earthday website via the internet kiosk near the race area/ or stamp their environment promise on the Commitment Wall set up near the Park Amphitheater.
4) Dog walk starts promptly at 6:30am. The 1.5k race begins and ends in the same location. Those who registered for the 3k race need to go around the dog walk route twice. Participants must walk with a dog and complete the route to be eligible for race awards.
5) Awarding ceremonies immediately follow the race. Awards will be given to the fastest walker in the following categories:
1.5k Walk (dog size: small, medium and large)
3k Walk (dog size: small, medium and large)

I'd love to attend unfortunately I don't have a dog. It looks like it's going to be a fun event though! :)

Hi! You're still welcome to join the event without a dog. You can always have fun walking around the venue. Thanks for sharing this with others :)
