. Just when I thought my blog posts for the year has ended, here I am again on my last hurrah, featuring some of the latest songs I know out there. Keep your playlist fresh, as they say cleaning out the clutter invites positive aura for the the new year to come! :D
The princess of pop proves that even though you're a momma, sex sells with just the body and the booty to show in Britney Spears' latest song called 3.
Rihanna is rocking her [bizarre] new hair and [weird military] fashion in her latest single Hardfeaturing Young Jeezy from her latest album "Rated R". (Makes me think if Lady Gaga's fashion is starting to get in Rihanna's system) back to back with another video recently released called Russian Roulette.
Korean music or "K-pop" as it is being called is finally being accepted in the country. With artists such as the Wonder Girls and 2NE1 being hot here in the Philippines, a new girl group is emerging and they are 4Minutewith their latest single Muzik.
And to end this wonderful year that was 2009, here's my closing blog post with songs from 30 Seconds to Mars' new album This is War (Exclusive song for Dragon Age: Origins game) which released two great songs impossible not to climb up the hit charts! Here's the album cover and the current song I can't get off my head, Kings and Queens.
One of the things that's part of my top 5 things in life are Live concerts... And these upcoming tours in RP happening the first three months of the new year are sending sweet chills down my spine!
2010 opens with a big bang as the Gentleman Ne-Yo goes back to the Philippines for his second concert tour (which would seem to be another full house as similar to his Feb 2008 performance) which will happen on January 9 at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds.
Now you know where your Christmas money will go. :p
Post-Hardcore/ Alternative Rock band Saosin will be rocking the stage of A-Venue Hall in Makati on January 22 (Friday), 8pm for only P1,000 per entrance fee. Knowing the place, it's small and cramped so you better get there early to be in the front row people! It's Saosin!!! Here's my personal favorite song of theirs: Seven Years.
Boys Like Girls goes back to back with House/ trance music of Hed Kandi brand on January 27 (Wednesday), 8pm at the SMX Convention Center Halls 1 & 2! Ticket prices are at P3,696 (VIP) and P1,796 (Gold) both of which are standing.
If you might recall, BLG's first tour here would have been together with Katy Perry's supposedly "first" performance last Oct. 3, 2009 but was unfortunately put on delay because of the Typhoon Ondoy which struck the Philippines back then. Although it's somewhat an unlikely combination for the pop-punk band to mix with glam disco music, we never know...i t might turn out to be a great music after all right? (But honestly I'm still skeptic about this but I like the artists so I might as well give them the benefit of the doubt and think about watching the show!)
January 31 will mark a full concert ground as The Killers will be performing that Sunday in Mall of Asia's concert grounds at 8pm.
All seat locations are standing. *A special holiday promo of 20% discount for Silver and Bronze is held by Ticketnet outlets for ticket purchases done until Dec. 31.
Promoters of the new hit band Owl City seems to have booked a our in RP too early despite only one song of them has been a part of the hit charts. But there are still a lot of days to go to see more of this Synthpop/Electronica band's releases. Let's just hope it's as good as Fireflies.
Their tour will be held on March 14 (Sunday), 8pm at the SMX Convention Center Halls 1 &2.
All tickets to mentioned events above are available via SM/ Ticketnet outlets.
And lastly, the undeniably growing K-pop fandom is attracting actual K-pop band 4Minute to perform here on February 4. Although not as famous---YET as the Wonder Girls with their "Nobody" or 2NE1's "Fire", they certainly have the Muzik and the attitude for it!
How I wish these were what I asked Santa for Christmas!XO
. There are just a lot of movies that still needs to be featured, I guess I'm not through!
The rumor I've picked up on my 2009 Movie preview post has come true! A darker, more sophisticated version of the greatest detective ever known (or written, for that matter), Sherlock Holmes is set to come out in the big screens this Jan. 8, 2010 with big stars shuck as Robert Downey Jr. (Holmes), Jude Law (as the trusted number two, Dr. Watson), Rachel McAdams and Mark Strong.
I'm just hoping the movie will show more of Holme's intellectual prowess rather than an action sequence which ironically seems to have dominated the trailer. (And weird enough I haven't pictured Downey as Holmes).
My favorite martial arts comedian Jackie Chan is back as The Spy Next Door in this movie somewhat similar to 'The Pacifier' (Vin Diesel), with less muscle but more of the a**-kicking moves.
Next up, love stories doesn't just come in February. Love Happens is about a widower whose book about coping with loss turns him into a best-selling self-help guru. On a business trip to Seattle, he falls for a woman who attends one of his seminars, only to learn that he hasn't yet truly confronted his wife's passing. Starring Aaron Eckhart and Jennifer Aniston, the movie is bound to show on January 27.
(How I'm hoping this isn't as corny as Aniston's previuos movie the Management. Ugh. Total disaster. ~_~")
And for the love of Eywa, if you haven't watched James Cameron'sAvatar yet, YOU ARE MISSING IT OUT MY FRIEND! I highly recommend i, best in 3D with a bag of munchies and a strong bladder ('coz you really won't get up from your seat just so you won't miss anything!) ;)
To close the 2009 movie posts, here's something from Y! Movies: See the movies that top them all in Top 10 Box Office movies of 2009!
More preview posts to come on 2010! Make watching all these movies a part of your resolution!
. It's a month full of celebrations to be happy about it and that means food, vacation and holidays! But aside from that, a new year is just around the corner and lot of good movies are in store for all movie-lovers! Check out these trailers I've been able to take a peak at and can't wait to see!
Get your dose of action in the re-make of the 1981 fantasy adventure film based on the myth of Perseus that is making old and new fans anticipate Clash of the Titans showing this March 26, 2010.
Some might think this is a spoof, others, another taint at the vampire image we used to know. Well Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant is indeed different as it shows its distinctive characteristic on a vampire that is based on author Darren Shan's "Vampire Blood Trilogy", a 12-book saga for young adults.
It has long been showed in the US but due to the MMF's, The Vampire's Assistant is late and will be showing in cinemas on Jan. 27, 2010.
Find the fun in an epidemic of the undead as Zombieland gives you the hunter, the hunted and the scared showing this Jan 8.
Why do I find their poster seemingly similar to Left 4 Dead [1] game characters? (Even genre here though).
Based on the book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game by Michael Lewis, the movie adaptation features the extraordinary true story of the American football player Michael Oher (played by Quinton Aaron), who plays for the Baltimore Ravens of the NFL. The movie also stars a blonde Sandra Bullock playing Oher's adopted mother.
Also showing on Jan. 27 (I actually got to watch this movie already and it is truly a touching and recommended movie to watch).
"After God loses faith in humanity, the archangel Michael (Paul Bettany) is the only one standing between mankind and the apocalypse. This time using angels as the act of Biblical judgment, God's wrath descends on Earth to exterminate the world's population. In a desperate, last-chance gambit, Michael leads a group of strangers to a small New Mexico diner to protect a young waitress who may be pregnant with Christ in His second coming."
And to end this long feature of great movies to watch out for, here's Walt Disney's latest production The Princess and the Frog, the timeless story of well, the Princess and the Frog (and you'd be so lame if you didn't know about that).
But needless to say, despite it being the famous fairy tale by the Grimm Brothers, we're still expecting this movie to come up with it's own twist and bring out the child in everyone of us... at least for those who are up to watching this kind of animated movies (although i don't have any idea when this is going to be shown though).
"Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
. There is no rest for the wicked... and so is with Music. I've only rested from looking at the billboard charts for the past week and I already got some catching up to do! And just in case I'm not the only person around in need of updating, here's 5 songs to keep your ears in tune!
You'd prolly hear this a lot in the radio or someone else singing it. Fireflies by the Owl City is such a hit I was wondering how come it took some time to make it's way mainstream. Here's the song that doesn't really make much sense in the lyrics but still makes you sing along with it.
Newcomer Jason Derulo will keep his song looping in your head and your head banging to the beat! Here's Watcha Say climbing up the charts.
Get stuck with this song and keep it on Replay as IYAZ followed byKe$ha's Tik Tok (Tick Tock) gets you in the groove with these songs that are both on the top 5 of the current hit charts!
Lastly, 13-year old Justin Beiber sings One Timeand becomes a hit with his charming puppy love... are we seeing the next Nick Carter?
. Sometimes when music artists collab, they either make it or break it. In this instance, here are some videos where big names in the industry namelymake semi-related songs and one just makes it but the other one just fails!
Beyonce ft. Lady Gaga - Video Phone
Lady Gaga ft. Beyonce - Telephone
And the verdict? I think both songs has a tune that give you a bit of a groove, but Beyonce's version is a fail yet again for many distinguishable reasons:
1) The lyrics doesn't make sense. Seriously, did you even listen to it? 2) Which brings me to the point where in the sounds of the actual video gets an inconsistent volume decrease and increase. Is that really supposed to be part of the whole video phone? 3) And lastly, the video is just a huge "???". I get the whole let'ss-try-a-new-concept thing but it doesn't really work in this video! Beyonce trying to be Lady Gaga, Lady Gaga trying to be Beyonce (Pulleaaze! I hardly got to recognize Lady Gaga without her over-the-top fashion) ...not a fun mix.
Lady Gaga's rendition was better, clearer and I can't wait to see the video despite the expected eccentricity that's bound to be seen in her vids.
Next collaborations are for NBA superstar LeBron James's upcoming movie "More Than A Game" which follow his life's tribulation and journey to fame while having a lot of interesting OST's. I've only picked two out of those to feature but you can check out the rest of the track here.
Ester Dean ft. Chris Brown - Drop It Low
Drake, Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Eminem - Forever
(Unfortunately video is not available for embedding so just watch it here.)
Now for these set, i don't really think I have a problem with them. The songs were wonderful and would fit the idea of LeBron's movie. I could only point out Chris Brown and Kanye West who are given a second chance to redeem themselves after their own issues, hoping they don't fail this time.
Just my two cents.
(Oh I almost didn't get to mention Eminem was so good looking here! *laughs*)
From being a Korean pop star to endorser to now the first English Korean movie lead actor, Rain stars in an amazing action-packed, blood and killing driven movie--- Ninja Assassin.
It is a tale of a skilled assassin who was trained by a mythical secret society called Ozuno Clan who are being hired by powerful men to be the modern assassins in the shadows of the night. But the moment his fellow ninja clan kills Raizo's friend (and somewhat love interest), Raizo bids his time until the day he can take the entire Ozunu Clan down.
It might be your ordinary revenge and action type movie. But honestly despite the shallow over-rated plot, that comment is clouded by the fast-paced, heart-stopping martial arts--- or whatever it is that Ninja does for their fighting method (and that includes his favorite weapon, Kratos of God of Wars very own Blades of Chaos! LOL). It's a movie entirely to entertain you and enjoy the favored concept of ninja ways... from their training to the weapons and the bad-ass shurikens, this movie is not for the weak gut and hearted.
The only negative thing I noticed is that there were a lot of absolutely obvious cut-scenes to reduce the thought of the gore that might happen next-- such as blood spilling, head cutting, more blood spilling---you get the gist. I guess it'll be available only to the Director's cut release sometime next year.
So for those who hasn't watched it yet (or is not aware of it yet), I recommend a night of ramen and Ninja Assassin to complete your thirst for some awesomeness. (Although I still wonder why they chose Rain to star in this though--- gotta love the abs! ;D)
I rarely use my blog for the benefit of pleasing my own vanity (and or personal gain for that matter). But for this instance, I want to ask any random reader of my blog to show me their love and support by voting my team's entry at the Solo "Discover You" contest.
Just register and rate our entry and that's one big help already. Thanks a lot to those who will spend their 5 minutes doing this! :)
You've prolly noticed I haven't been able to post music highlights for quite some time now. And as expected, new songs just keep popping up! Here's some of them worth downloading-- or buying for that matter (Unless you're pro-pirated =p).
First up, 30H! features Katy Perry in a nice, fresh disco-pop like song that seems a bit Gaga-ish but Starstukk has indeed struck the charts!
People would probably say they nominated Lady Gaga'sBad Romance as one of those under the category with the "worst/weirdest" video of 2009, but then again, isn't that what makes her interesting? Here's her yet again avant-garde / over-the-top insane looks but is oh so fashionable!
You're Worth It by Taj Jackson was heard from a friend's playlist. Nice RnB. :)
Alicia Keys is back and is hot as usual! Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart is not as senti as the title implies.
Next up, Miley Cyrus makes Party In The USA one of the hottest songs in the chart despite her seemingly naive counterpart Hanna Montana. Let's just hope she [Miley herself] doesn't become the next Lindsay Lohan.
From kick-ass music to kick-more-ass music, Black Eyed Peas does keep their album The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) at the top of the charts with yet another single titled Meet Me Halfway.
And lastly, David Rush ft. LMFAO, Pitbull & Kevin Rudolf teams up to make one helluva party song! Here's Shooting Star that just makes you want to put the groove on!
. TWILIGHTSaga fans are probably trying to fit themselves in all cinemas showing the hit book's second series 'New Moon' screening out today. Although I may not be a part of those poeple rushing and screaming "Edwaaaardddd <3!!!">
For Twilight fans, here's an interesting look on the cast of the famed and crazed vamp love story!
There's much less to say but so many things to do when Anime Station Hero [TV] runs on it's 5th-- and still-- massive Anime convention in Hero Nation happening this November 30 at A-Venue in Makati City!

. This just in! December Toy Con is near and what more can it be aside from the Toy sale, collectibles bazaar, live toy auctions, bargains, toy donation drive, cosplay and fun, fun, fun?!
SAVE THE DATE! It's this coming December 16-22, 2009 at the Megatrade Hall 3, SM Megamall.
Time for me to save up for that Gundam Model now!!!:D www.toyconph.com
After the Philippines got struck by the devastating 1-day rainfall last September 26, 2009 because of typhoon "Ondoy" (internationally named as Ketsuna), "Pepeng" (Parma) is about to enter RP's territory by nightfall and I can only hope that our country be saved from further destruction...
Although I was fortunate that our home was spared from the floods and no one I knew got hurt, I still feel sad and sorry for my fellow countrymen who was affected greatly by Ondoy. A lot of them has still not recovered from the loss of their properties, love ones and the wearisome situation they are in, I only ask for your help through whatever donations you can give and most importantly, prayers that we be spared from this calamity.
Indeed it is rare for an MMORPG to have a high quality production when it comes to its OST's. And though IAHGames took some time to release one for my beloved game Granado Espada, I guess it's better late than never. Here's the Mandarin song entitled "Reborn" performed by Lin Yu Zhong & Jin Sha.
The video isn't exactly what I expected nor hoped for, but it's one for the keeps and a sign of hope that GE will indeed Reborn... :)
South Korea makes another 'Human LCD' stunt, where actual people seem to be wide scale LCD screens just by moving on their spot and flipping their clothes! Watch the amazingly cool videos i found over the net! :D
. Many Chicago streets were blocked to give way as The Oprah Winfrey Show opened its 24th season with Black Eyed Peas performing their song 'I Gotta Feeling' (revising the lyrics to "that TODAY'S gonna be a GOOD day") turned out to be one amazing new record of flash mob as 21,000 fans broke into a choreographed dance! I haven't read much news about how this cool feat was put into possible action, but a friend of mine did mention OW Producers hiring twenty (20) people to call teach their friends the steps, and that friends of their friends teach it to someone else. Thus the flash mob was successful. Watch the all-time shockingly amazing video of that event and how Oprah was surprised by the whole thing. :)
God speed to Oprah and crew for a new year and more people to unite!
. Probably the greatest news that I've heard over the week (well next to the two specially declared holidays for the month of Sept.) is that it's official! MTV Pilipinas has bagged the concert of no other than pop-rock singer-songwriter (of I Kissed A Girl, Thinking of You, Waking Up in Vegas) Katy Perry who will rock the grounds of SM Mall of Asia this coming October 3!
Tickets range from Php3,500 for VIP/ P2,000 for Gold/ P1,200 for Silver and P400 for Bronze (GA). As usual, tickets and reservations are available via TicketWorld.
This one-night only performance surely isn't to be missed! If I could give up those Lady Gaga tickets, I wouldn't miss this one for the world!
Panic! at the Disco is back with their their latest song and a New Perspective as an OST to the upcoming movie "Jennifer's Body" starring Megan Fox.
After the rise of Kpop Wonder Girls, Jpop group Bigbang also gives a bang in the U.S. charts with their current hit song, Number 1.
Despite some non-Jonas Brothers-fan among my readers, I'm still going to post on of their songs since I'll be biased for the sake of music (*if you can call it music *cough* *cough*) Here's Fly With Me.
Some wore it, some rocked it, while others looked utterly dreadful in it. See your favorite stars in their red carpet outfits and how they are graded in Y! Entertainment's Fashion Report Card for Late Summer 2009.
Coming in first is a movie that would seem to catch another wave of fan-sequel-attention a a novel-based story is set to hit the screens in 2010. Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief is about the chronicles and adventures of twelve-year-old Percy Jackson, who discovers he is a demigod, the son of a mortal woman and the Greek god Poseidon. Percy and his friends go on a quest to prevent an apocalyptic war between the Greek gods Zeus, Poseidon and Hades. The story contains a multitude of encounters with characters from Greek mythology still alive in modern times.
This fantasy novel is rated as a young-adult fiction 9th on New York Time's Best Seller list for children's books last Aug 2007. Playing Percy Jackson is Logan Lerman, a promising young actor who would either be the next Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) or Rob Pattionson (Edward from Twilight). He already has a few movies in his CV including casting in two upcoming movies this September such as "My One and Only" (starring Renee Zellwegger and Kevin Bacon) and "Gamer" (Gerard Butler).
I wouldn't wonder if Lerman stars getting fan girls from this trailer alone, he looks so cute! Lmao~XD
Next up by Wild Hogs duo John Travolta and director Walt Becker as they work together again to bring another comedy movie by Disney called "Old Dads".
Including some of the big names in comedy: Robin Williams, Seth Green and Justin Long, let's hope this movie does become a good comedy and not just some Daddy Day Camp-like movie.
Reminding you also of this Disney movie that's currently showing and has been hitting the box office charts is the 3-D movie of special Guinea Pigs in G-Force. Here's the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1-cK5P4EDE
Another animated movie called Cloudy wth a Chance of Meatballs. Yes, the movie title is that long as it implies foods falling from the sky and more comical treat following. Watch the trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEyjj-L5Mv8
The whole gaming field has reached a new level. In Gamer, it somehow captures the sense of the 2008 movie Death Race (starring Jason Statham) where players control other humans in actual combat! See the [shocking] possibilities this September!
And lastly, the role of a Vampire-ish/Demon-like highschool cheerleader that feeds on teenage boys has befallen Megan Fox in the thriller Jennifer's Body set to be released on September 18. Not her usual cup of tea and it looks kinda corny but since it's Fox, no matter how lame it may look, why do I have a feeling boys would surely still buy it? (not to mention she makes evil dark and sexy).
A slothful writer/ blogger/ model-ish/ photography enthusiast/ frustrated musician who finds this blog as the outlet of all her randomness and or anything that might be worth reading. This blog is intended to be an outlet of her thoughts and creativity but most of all, improve her way of thinking and writing and hopefully along the way, discover her own limitless capabilities.
