Vector (?) for sale

.
While randomly searching for vector images at work, I saw this nice simple design of colorful clouds on top of one another. The picture was for sale however (yeah, for what ever purpose it may serve. XD) so i tired to imitate it by doing my own version c/o Photoshop!

See that colorful cloud on the lower left?
That's the one I tried to pirate.
The result?

VIOLA! XD

...Now i just have to find a way where I can sell it too! LOL!

Unwanted Perfect Life

.
My fourth and hopefully NOT my last article about LaMB, here's my answer to the question:

"In LaMB, the process of lamination was first invented to preserve beauty until it evolved into a form of imprisonment. Would you commit a crime to stay young and beautiful?"

There is no need for a long beauty-pageant like answer. Ever since, I've already thought that although a mere mortal would be tempted by the fact they could stay young and beautiful for a long time, If the fact remains that I'll eventually become someone who is perfect yet imprisoned, ak.a. Laminated, ending up in a life of servitude and emotion-less nature, it is not worth trading for physical flawlessness. I'd rather experience be old and live another life than stay perfect but never got to enjoy life.

Adding up my last year's post: Enjoy Life!

A Mission for LaMB

"If you were given access to a LaMB, what task would you have it perfom for you? (You will need to refer to LaMB rules on animax-lamb.com)"

Since I am rich enough to have a LaMB, I'd rather have my LaMB do something absurd or almost impossible! And with that, I'd fund some of my wealth and will put him/her on a mission to embark on other planets or even cross over our milky way galaxy just to discover if there is indeed other life forms or possible inhabitable planets!

If the mission has been completed, his accomplishment alone would change a lot of things we know right now and affect the future of human race. It would further give us understanding on the things that is out of our reach yet can be done by why we thought was something- so--useless. But because I personally value human life, I will consider that in exchange for a successful mission to and back on earth, I will have my LaMB de-laminated and live a normal human life--- even on the planet he discovered.

Fanning and Hudgen in New Moon?!

.
Latest movie gossips shares that Dakota Fanning has been outright offered a casting role for Twilight's sequel "New Moon".

The 14-year old child superstar could be Jane, the Volturi Vampire that has the powers to kill you by letting you imagine unbearable pain. However, despite numerous fans petitioning online that Dakota be the "petite blonde with a Botticelli angel-like face…[and] crimson irises", Dakota has not yet aaccepted the role.

And while Jacob Black actor Taylor Lautner is sweethearts with High School Musical hottie Vanessa Hudgens, rumors have also been "wolfing" that Vanessa has auditoned for the role as Leah Clearwater, the only female werewolf in Jacob's pack.

Again, no confirmation has been released yet although Vanessa won't seem to mind going nekked as she phases right? *roll eyes* :p

Twiligth Cast "could-have-beens"

.

Ever wondered who could the "could-have-been" casts of the hit novel-turned-movie Twilight?

Well I did.

And this isn't because of too much obsession to the novel I assure you. XD I may not be their number one fan, but I won't deny I'm close to being one of the "edwardians". LOL! (Take note: EDWARD, not Robert Pattinson-gaga) XP

This article sparked my interest mainly because of a particular video I saw in Youtube. Twilight fans made their own "casting" of who are the candidates up for Bella or Edward's Hollywood image. Some of them gave interesting names and some of them well, didn't quite hit the bull's eye.

So without further things to blab on, here are two Edwards and Bella's I personally prefer--in terms of perfect image (acting is still to be judge):

Current Edward Cullen:

Robert Pattinson
Became relatively famous as the handsome, smart and charming
Cedric Diggory from Harry Potter. Now he lands another yet handsome,
smart and charming role as Edward Cullen. How lucky can one get!

Edward Cullen Could-be's:

The man that was ALMOST Superman (down to the final 3), as well as the man that was ALMOST Batman (final 6) and well as the man that was SO CLOSE to being Bond (final 2 but deemed too young). And now he's about to become the dubbed PERFECT MAN in the image of Edward, but heck---you know how it turned out.

Sean Faris
Probably the hottest guy I have ever freakin' seeeeen!!!!
(Search his other pics, he's one helluva sexy male model!) XD

Then off to the forbidden fruit:

Current Bella Swan:
Kristen Stewart
Famous for her role in Panic Room with co-star Jodie Foster,
she's the kid with allergy problems....Now she isn't such a kid anymore!

Bella Swan Could-be's:

a.k.a. Rogue of X-Men, she could be Belly Swan with her Brunette hair.
But after seeing this picture, I thought she would have been better of
as Rosalie Cullen instead!

Ellen Page
2008 Oscar Nominee for her lead role as the 16 year old
pregnant teen in Juno, she's certainly another perfect Bella. Well,
ironically, Bella shouldn't be perfect at all but Ellen Page exudes just that!

And to the mongrels err, to he who completes the love triangle:

Current Jacob Black:

Although a bit young among his fellow cast in Twilight, Taylor may fit the right age for Jacob Black but does he have the right physical quantities to be the hunk werewolf in the movie? Many physical changes underwent Jacob in the novel, with his transformation as a werewolf, his body should be well built too. Will Taylor Lautner be able to live up this changes for the next movie? We'll soon found out despite rumors he might be changed into other more potential actors...

Jacob Black Could-be's:

6-pack hunk Michael Copon got a fairly good vote from Twilight fans
in the internet when voting was casted as to who Jacob Black should be.
We just wonder how come he didn't get the spot?
Is it because he's 15 years OLDER rather than 15 years YOUNGER?

Steven Strait
10,000 B.C. lead actor could have gotten the spot with his charming
features... Jacob Black or not, he's a hunter, and I sure do bet he's also hunted!
Isn't it why Bella fell for him in the first place? ;)

...And that's it! If I make a longer list for other sub characters, it wouldn't matter anyway since the cast is already plotted. LOL! Though I do want to emphasize that I liked Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and the rest of the actors who turned out-who in the movie. Although I think the current actors COULD HAVE done better though... as to give more what is due to Stephenie Meyer's creation and imagination. Twilight fans would just cross their fingers the sequel movie isn't as disappointing as the first!

Writing Tips Part 2

There's a lot more that can be done with writing than just the basic essays, news and or blogging. It could be as simple as writing a diary.. or it could be a deeper medium of thoughts and dreams to portray things that cannot be spoken or acted. Here's a second part on writing tips from yours sincerely.

7) As much as possible, do not be BIASED.

Although this instance is something hard to do (because sharing one's opinions or ideas means you take up a side.. SOMEHOW), as much as possible (as my writing profs use to say), try not to be biased specially with issues that needs serious response by looking at both side of the story.

8) Browse RANDOMLY.

I make this a habit specially If i don't have any topics in mind. I randomly think of a category and browse anything (well except for porn sites and the like. =.=") just so I could discover other topics I may not know about and heck, does it help me think of things to write about!

9) Learn new WORDS.

If you encounter a word you're not familiar with, Google it or better yet, learn a word in a DAILY approach. My dad used to make me do this when I was still young. I skipped a lot of days mind you, and although I may not be a walking dictionary, there's always Shift + F7 (Thesaurus) in MS Word. XD

10) Avoid Procrastination!!! >_<"

I know this may be one of the many reasons why one can't improve on their skills because they let themselves think "i-could-do-this-or-that-on-another-day-anyway". I'm guilty of this too but if I feel that I'm up to writing, I make up for the days I don't get to post something and well, try to make sense out of it too. As much as possible, do not procrastinate. Instead, motivate!

A tip my writing professor taught me:

He said that if you read back on our past written articles and you LIKED it, it means you haven't improved our writing skills.

If you hated it and thought it sucked, it simply means you wrote it very badly!

...And how to know if you've improved your writing? Sorry but I Guess we'll have to find that out for ourselves because I forgot the rest of Dean's lecture!XDD

*Drum roll* Blog change!

I really feared having to change my blog layout... I found this site online that would provide a 3-column page layout but in exchange, would ruin my entire current blog design. It was a tough decision (lol) but heck I decided to jump the cliff anyway!

Goodbye to my old & common web page design:

But hey, hello 3-columns!
(I went for this 'coz I wanted the 'favorite blog article' list) XD

Bacchikoi, Bacchikoi Babeee!

I think one of the things that won't change in me even if I grow old is my love for anime and gaming. And with that, comes the wonderful J-songs that adds more life to it. Here are some of the great-but-not-so-famous-OST's that you might want to add in your playlist. ;)

From one of the phenomenal anime during Yu Yu Hakusho's domination, here's Flame of Recca's 2nd closing song, Zutto Kimi No Zoba De. (I miss Kurei-sama! Bwohahaha! XD)

Next up is the beloved boys with trouble in their pockets (although this song shows the sentimental part of the story). This is Alone from Gensoumaden Saiyuki.

Introduced by a friend to me and eventually became on of my most loved-anime, here's one of Midori no Hibi's soundtrack: Chiisa no Tegami (Small Letter) sang by Coorie.

And lastly, this has got to be the best ending song for Naruto... wait, for all Anime!!!XD
Coming out on Naruto Shippuuden's 91th ep, Here's the 8th closing song: Bacchikoi by Dev Parade with an epic dance move from our favorite Naruto Characters! *Side step wiggle wiggle* (Oh man, this just brings out the fountain of yooouuuttth! XD)

Moving on with the list, here are the game soundtracks ranging from console to Online Games!

From PS2, here's the RPG where strangely, Goofy and Donald are part of the characters, here's Kingdom Hearts' Hikari by my fave J-singer, Utada Hikaru.

From my previous MMORPG (yes, sadly I have said goodbye to playing it), enjoy leveling from 4-8 at Al Quelt Moreza, while listening to Granado Espada's OST: Odyssey by Kubota Omasu.

And to wrap it up, here's one from the online game Dance Battle Audition-- Stay in Me by Ji Young Suh. (I remember I love to dance to this tune, i just forgot how fast you needed to press the 9 keys so my character would do her cute dances. Oh crap, now I miss playing! =c)

...Oh, i remembered I uploaded a vid of my character dancing and doing 3 FM's (Final Movements) which was a rare case back then. Forgive me for choosing a RANDOM sexual dance move. LOL! XP If you're interested, watch it here. XD

'Til next time!~ :D

Filipino-made animated films

We've all heard Filipinos become famous abroad in different fields. Half-blooded or not, they made names in different fields like singing: Nicole Scherzinger, Mutya Buena and errr.. Renaldo "I am Your Brother" Lapuz (The guy who joined American Idol Season 7). Batista's there too for WWE! XD

But despite their acknowledgeable (or not-so-flattering) accomplishments, more and more Filipinos step up to the game and try out the waters to be successful in any field. Take this new accomplishment for example: Filipinos are now tapping into the art of Anime. It's not just your average morning kiddie shows but full-length animated movie (with great graphics If I should say) that was worthy enough to be recognized internationally.

Although many Filipinos love anime ever since (and most of what the eastern culture brought us), I think we just weren't able to give much recognition to our artists (drawing) and of course, there's the technological limit we have. Dubbing of Japanese animes still sucks But things have changed! And finally after all these years, we were finally able to come up with our first Filipino-made all-digital animated film! (I know this is like yesterday's story but guess what, I have updates! XP)

The first one to made was the one that starred Regine Velasquez and Cesar Montano's voice. It was "Urduja" which came out June 18, 2008 in cinemas. It's about our very own folklore from Pangasinan, the warrior princess Urduja who is set to marry Lakapanti, someone he doesn't love. Along the story, she meets Limhang where they obviously fell in love together but loses the crown in return. The story also involved protecting their tribe from ruthless invaders.

Just to refresh you, here's the movie trailer:

Next one which came out last December 2008, was courtesy of Cutting Edge Productions with "Dayo", a stroy of a boy named Bubuy who has to save his grandparents who were abducted and brought to the strange land called Elementalia, which is home to a host of strange creatures. These 'creatures' were the different kinds of elemental beings in filipino horror stories. Bubuy makes friend with Anna, a manananggal, a winged girl who has wings and well, has half a body. She doesn't eat babies though, it would be gruesome to show that in the movie! XD

"Dyan ka lang! Wag mko kakainin! Dyan ka laaaang!" *Pokes you with wooden fork* =))

I also read in an article that there was a movie that came out before Dayo, it was about our beloved and perpetual high school lesson... Ibong Adarna. However I'm not fully aware of this animation coming out in cinemas and the net even has little information about it. I wonder if it was ever even released?

And now heading to the last and extremely hyped animation, here's one series to watch out for. LaMB, or "Laminated Woman: To the Sand Planet Cerra" as it was entitled before it was bought by Animax for a whopping $6 milion just so they can produce it to a full-length animated movie. Well, basically it's now Singapore who holds production for this anime but the story was based on the script written by Carmelo S. J. Juinio (who is proudly a Filipino) as his entry for the 2007 Animax Awards.

Before it comes out sometime this 2009, inform yourselves of what the story is all about. (Summary from http://animax-lamb.blogspot.com/2008/12/lamb-whats-it-all-about.html)

"The story takes place on the planet Cerra which is 25 light years away from Earth. The main characters are Jack and Eve. Jack is a scientist who is tasked to restore life to the barren planet. He tries to forget about his wife who passed away by keeping himself busy on his work. Eve on the other hand is an ex-weapons specialist who has accidentally taken innocent lives while on a mission. She was sentenced to 200 years of virtual imprisonment and will take part of the lamination scheme.

All prisoners on Cerra go through the process of lamination in which after the procedure, they will be called "LaMBs". Once they become a LaMB they will be assigned to a "shepherd" who can almost have full control over them. LaMBs follow 16 rules and one of those rules strictly prohibits them from harming others. If the worse case happens and they attack another human being, they will receive a severe electric shock by the suit they were given. The most interesting part of lamination is that it was first designed to be a beauty treatment to prevent aging by stopping the degeneration of . The government of Cerra called "Central Administration Bureau of Cerra" (CABC), found a better use for the beauty treatment and decided to exploit them on prisoners. All male prisoners were called Adam and all female prisoners were called Eve, followed by their serial number.

LaMB starts to get interesting when unintentionally Jack gets pulled into the political system of lamination and a Romance with Eve begins."

Of Earth and Beyond

For my second article/entry for LaMB Blogger's Contest, here's my answer to the question:

"The story of LaMB takes place on the planet Cerra. Do you believe that life forms exist on other planets?"

I would say yes, life forms COULD exist in other planets but we're still not fully aware of them because we haven't even discovered everything there is to know about our OWN planet. If there were bacteria found in the meteorite that came from Mars, that alone is already a sign of life and could even be the start of "life" per se, because if my science knowledge still serves me right, it only takes on cell to be able to grow a life form.

If we could consider life here on Earth, why not somewhere else in this big universe? Is it because we lack proof or belief that other galaxies could also be wondering the same thing? Sometimes I think sometimes maybe it is even possible that we are living in a huge living creature... The bacteria inside of us may not realize that they are living in some other living creature. And with that, maybe we are living in some other living creature also not knowing that fact! Well, it's only my two cents, but hey, doesn't it sound possible? ;-p

The right OST for LaMB!

.
In response to Animax's blogger's contest about their upcoming anime: LaMB (Click the link if you don't know all about it), here's my first article answering the question:

"If you had to choose a theme song for LaMB, which song would you choose? Which band would you have perform it and why?"

I didn't give this one much of a thought though. I almost instantly knew what the song should be.

When I first saw LaMB and the lame OST, I personally don't think
The Click Five's "Summertime" is the best song for it... neither is "I Can Wait Forever" by Simple Plan. Yeah sure Click Five and Simple Plan's famous and all, but what do they know about making OST's for anime for goodness sake?! This anime needs more energy... more rock! More... L'Arc~en~ciel and Daft Punk!

Here are three songs that I propose be the OST for the sake of Cerra:

New World by L'Arc~en~ciel

Neo Universe by L'Arc~en~ciel

If Animax chose The Click Five or Simple Plan because they're famous, L'Arc~en~ciel is as awesome as those bands! It's just not promotional but they're both rock and cool at the same time. In New World and Neo Universe of LARUKU (short for L'arc--you know what), their song-- specifically the lyrics--reveal more of LaMB's profound storyline. It's not everyday you get to encounter an anime where criminals--not to mention HUMAN LIVES--are recycled!

Although I can't understand much of the Jap lyrics, I've looked for english translations of those songs (told you I'd research about this although I can't be 100% sure if the translation is correct~ XD), lo and behold! The lyrics of New World and Neo Universe both depict a different world is coming and that we should embrace it because change is inevitable and we'll just one day wake up in it.

Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger by Daft Punk

Now this one is undeniably a good song--even Akon made his own remix out of it! But aside from the western version, this song almost captured every essence of what 'Lamination' is all about. Once one become a LaMB, they are perfect-- Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger. Yet unfortunately from my own understanding about the anime, they still do not own their lives. They are still the criminals that they are---only, upgraded to become of better use to the society. And just like the video of this song, the anime band is taken away from their home planet, transformed in memories, image and style-- only to be sent to a different and unknown planet by someone's dark plans! (Wooow. XD)

I don't think the songs I've mentioned above have already become theme songs for different mainstream anime so it becomes a perfect opportunity to re-live the song and have the right--or should I say--PERFECT OST for LaMB!

2009: Good year for RP’s gaming biz?

2009: Good year for RP’s gaming biz?
By Alex Villafania

From Inquirer.net, 01/12/2009

MANILA, Philippines--The Philippines saw good growth in the overall gaming industry last year.

Despite looming economic slowdown in the country, gaming companies are not worried.
The online game business in the country is the most successful segment in the gaming business, as it capitalized on Filipino’s community approach.

Millions of Filipinos are playing online games published by companies such as Level Up!, IP e-Games and Amped Games. There are several other publishers that have introduced new games in 2008. But the economic slowdown looms.

IPVG chief executive officer Enrique Gonzales said the economic slowdown might mean less disposable income for gamers and a slowdown in Internet usage among Filipinos.

“Publishers will be more prudent in their aggressiveness in licensing and launching content,” he said. IPVG is the parent company of IP e-Games.

Gonzales said the company is looking at a 30-percent growth for their online game business.
But he believed that the negative effects of the economic slowdown will be compensated by the perception that online gaming is an affordable entertainment.

“So all in all, online gaming is one of the ‘safe havens’ or sectors least affected by an economic downturn,” he said.

Jake San Diego, marketing director for game publishing firm Level Up! Philippines, said the free-to-play model would still play a big factor in the survivability of online gaming businesses. San Diego agreed online gaming is an inexpensive and more convenient form of entertainment.

The Level Up! Philippines executive said the company is looking at releasing new content that would grow the business in 2009. This means targeting newer markets that have yet to be tapped, he added.

Meanwhile, Filipino game development firms are taking a cautious stance in 2009. Industry organization Game Development Association of the Philippines (GDAP) is preparing for 2009, according to Gabby Dizon, GDAP President.

Dizon, also president of game development company Flipside Games, said they are monitoring effects of the economic slowdown but believe the industry is more resilient.
Local game developers are also hoping to get some windfall from offshore outsourcing projects from bigger development companies.

“We’re not seeing a rapid drop off of activity that other sectors may be facing. Cautious optimism is our guidance for 2009,” Dizon said.

Niel Dagondon, co-founder Filipino game developer Anino Entertainment, added some offshore projects were postponed or cancelled. This has forced them to fight for fewer projects. “Many game publishers are also having difficulty meeting payment obligations which would mean we have to tighten our belts,” Dagondon said.

Dagondon said Anino Entertainment is holding back on hiring new people until they have found new projects.

“We have also examined our operations and will be shifting business models, which would result in having leaner operations during the dry season,” he said.
Amid the expected economic slowdown this year, executives in the video gaming business remain optimistic.

San Diego said Level Up! Philippines is waiting for Rohan Online and Hello Kitty launch in the Philippines.

Gonzales, on the other hand, said he is hoping to see the latest Hitman game, Tekken 6 and Grand Theft Auto IV for the PS3 this year.

Meanwhile, Dagondon said he is wishing for the games Spore and Fallout 3 to arrive soon. Dizon, for his part, said he is interested in the Apple iPhone as a gaming platform and wishes that some Filipinos would create games for this platform.

Heard that game developers? "create games for iPhone platform"! It's the next evolution of touchpad gaming! -Lady 'K

Super Mario dethroned!

Wii Sports is best-selling game ever
Jock blockbuster topples Mario.
By Ben Silverman

VS.

Well, that didn't take long.

According to game-tracking website VGChartz, sales of Nintendo's pop-culture phenom Wii Sports have surpassed those of legendary platformer Super Mario Bros., making the breakout Wii title the best-selling video game of all time. And it only took two years and two months to do it.

The data is based on cumulative worldwide sales figures ending the week of December 27, 2008, which indicate that lifetime sales of Wii Sports have exceeded Mario's staggering 40.24 million units.

Shocked? Don't be. Unlike most video games that can be bought at retail, Wii Sports comes bundled with the Wii hardware in every territory other than Japan and Korea. In other words, if you bought a Wii, you bought Wii Sports whether you liked it or not (chances are, you liked it). With over 45 million Wiis sold worldwide to date, it's only logical that Wii Sports would start smashing records sooner or later.

And before you brand Wii Sports a false champion due to being bundled with hardware, consider that Super Mario Bros. was also sold as a bundle with the original Nintendo Entertainment System during its mid-80's heyday. Plus, Wii Sports has been a major hit even in non-bundled form, topping Wii sales charts in Japan at over 3.2 million copies sold in 2008 alone.

A new version of the game, Wii Sports: Resort, is due out later this year.

It seems quite hard to come up with works out of bulls since we don't have them here in the Philippines, but then again, that's why it's an art contest right? It's about creativity, finding the right medium and portraying it accordingly.

Kudos to those who will join, and well, to me. haha. :)
